Zamil Steel has been awarded a contract by Arnaout Contracting Establishment (ARCON) for the design, fabrication, and supply of more than 5,000 metric tons of pre-engineered steel buildings for an integrated onshore rig for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

Located in Ras Al-Khair, near Jubail Industrial City on the Kingdom’s east coast, the new facility is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and National Oilwell Varco (NOV) and will have a capacity to manufacture ten onshore rigs per year.

The joint venture facility is expected to serve as a major hub for high specification drilling rigs and will offer repair services and recertification for a large portfolio of equipment. The manufacturing facility will also be equipped to deliver drilling packages for offshore jack-up rigs.
